Going to Prom

Dancing is not my one of my talents. I'm not very good at it, but I have looked forward to going to the prom since I started high school. I really didn't have a clue who I was going to ask to go with me until my junior year during football season. That is when I met and fell in love with the girl I'm dating, Kailyn Diane Brown. So my first prom turned out pretty nice. After the whole process of taking pictures and everything, Kailyn and I went to Ruby Tuesday in Hickory for dinner. After dinner, it was time for me to get my groove on. At first, I was kind of shy and didn't really dance much but as time went on, and everyone was out there on the dance floor, I started getting with it. It was really fun. I couldn't have had anyone better as a date to the prom than Kailyn. Spending the day with Kailyn was very nice. We had a really good time together. I'm looking forward to the next prom. I'm excited to see what dress she will pick out and then what suit I will get to wear. With this being my senior year, it is going to be really special. I hope that Kailyn and I will get the prom king and queen. That would be pretty cool. Prom is really fun and an experience to remember.

Cruising on the Harley Davidson

All my life, I have been on motorcycles. I've grown up around them and know a lot about them. Getting my motorcycle license was something that I always wanted to do. Current state law requires that you take a 4 day class before you can get your motorcycle license.  The class was expensive and inconvenient, but I believe it is a good idea for safety reasons. So for my sixteenth birthday, my parents paid for me to go to the Harley Davidson shop in Salisbury to take that class. After I took the class and passed the test at the DMV, I got my motorcycle license. My dad has a Harley Davidson Softail Classic and my brother has a Honda CBR 600. The funnest bike to ride and the most enjoyable is without a doubt my dads Harley. During the summer on a nice hot, sunny, day, you can't beat a nice cruise on the Harley. I can't wait to turn eighteen so that I can take a cruise with Kailyn (my girlfriend) on the back with me. Riding is a lot of fun, and I can't wait for next summer when I can get the bike out again and go cruising.

Getting my lisence

I couldn't wait to turn sixteen and drive all the boys around. Having the freedom to drive myself around was exciting . There would be no more riding around with mom, and if I wanted to drive separate, I could. Getting your licence is a big step in life. Driving is a major responsibility, not only are you responsible for yourself but you have to consider any passengers that may be with you.  Then you have other drivers on the highway that you must consider as well.  Mistakes are something that you want to avoid while on the road. The freedom that you get from having your licence is a very cool and nice feeling.

Riding Horses

I live back in the boondocks where horses are everywhere. During the summer time, it is rare not to see someone riding hiding. I really enjoy riding them myself. My grandpa has had many horses as he was growing up and he continued to have them also as I was growing up. Donkeys have always been around my grandpa's house as well. He has three miniature donkeys now. Sundays after church we always go to my grandparents house for lunch after church. On bright summer days, I would go out and saddle up the horse and go for a little ride. I have a good friend, Cody Fox, that lives about ten minutes from my house, and I really enjoy riding horses with him. The past two years we have went to Mount Rodgers with a bunch of other guys for a weekend and rode the whole time. Those were some cool trips. While we were there, we got to see a few wild ponies. My favorite horse riding memory was one Sunday evening when I finally got the nerve to ask Kailyn Brown to come ride with me. It was Cody, Sarah, Kailyn, and me. That was the first time that me and Kailyn ever hung out. So that is a very nice memory for me. I'm thankful I've had the chance to be around horses and, I hope to someday own my own horse.

Winning a State Championship

I have received several awards from football and wrestling and all of the awards have been very special. But one thing even more special to me was winning a state championship. I was blessed to win a state championship in wrestling my eighth grade year. I'm very proud and thankful for that accomplishment. Few people have had the privilege to win a state title. It took a lot of work to get to the point where I was able to win a championship. Great accomplishments come only with hard work and determination. I have always heard that if it is worth having, it is worth working for. So day in and day out everyday, I pushed myself to achieve this goal that I had for myself. The hard work paid off. Not even halfway through the first period of the match I pinned my opponent and won my first and only state championship! For as long as I live no one can take that away from me and it is something I'll never forget.

Athletics

Sports has always been a big part of my life. Even when I was just crawling around, I was playing football. I think that is why I'm so competitive in everything I do. Through my middle school years, I played football and wrestled. I won the conference tournament both my seventh and eight grade year. Also, during my eighth grade year, I was able to compete and win the USA wrestling state tournament. That was a very big accomplishment for me. I wanted to win a state title in football, but I wasn't able to do that. The most memorable year of football in middle school was my eighth grade year when we went undefeated as conference champions and also won the big Apple Bowl. My entire high school athletic career has meant a lot to me. I've made many life long friendships through athletics. My freshman year, I played football, and I also wrestled. After that year, I was pretty burnt out on wrestling so I decided to put my focus on football. My sophomore year was special to me because I was able to play with my older brother Dustin. That year we won the conference championship which was the first time we had won it in 29 years. That was a pretty cool achievement. My favorite year was my senior season. With a new head coach and different schemes on both sides of the ball, it made things interesting. For the first time since middle school, I was able to run the ball again and also played defence as a linebacker. Sports has definitely helped mold me into what I am today.

Church

I have a very strong belief in Jesus Christ. Had it not been for him, then we would have nothing to look forward to in this life or when we go into eternity. I attend Bethel Baptist Church. That is where I've always been a member. It was also there where I was saved. Having the assurance that one day whenever my time comes to leave this world and step out into eternity, I know without a shadow of a doubt where I'm going and that is a wonderful feeling. That gives you a peace that nothing else can give you. I've been blessed throughout the years to attend church with my family. My whole family on my mothers side attends Bethel. My Aunt JoAnn plays the piano, my Uncle Eddie plays the bass, I play the guitar, and my brother Dustin plays the drums. That makes up the music at our church.
